WORKSHOP DETAILS

Location: Hong Kong

Time/Dates: 2nd – 5th of November 2026 | 4 Days

Attendees: 6

Cost: £800 GBP

Hong Kong is packed full of energy and character. From neon street signs and vibrant shopfronts to its famous double-deckers, this city blends old-school charm with a cutting-edge vibe. Nestled on the South China Sea, it’s a city that never sleeps. If you’ve ever wanted to play with Street Photography at night, Hong Kong is the city to do it.

Any time of day, this city is a street photographer’s dream. From creative compositions to a fascinating range of characters and visually interesting backgrounds. From playing with misty mornings to patching of light cutting through the buildings in the afternoon. In a relatively small area, there is so much to see and capture. There’s also great range in locations from the modern squares, to bustling side streets and alleys with local markets to walks along the waterfront. Around every corner, there is something to capture your interest. My biggest challenge with this workshop was squeezing all of my favourite locations into just 4 days.

What to Expect from this Workshop?

This workshop won’t be a relaxing holiday in the sun. The days will be long, and you will be pushed. However, the payout both in terms of your photography development and the depth of the experience you have, will be huge. That I can promise.

During this workshop, you can expect a mix of theory, covering practical tips and approaches, and plenty of shooting as I introduce you to the best locations in this unique and character-rich city for street photography. You will have daily opportunities to photograph with me 1-2-1 and receive feedback on your photos. You will leave with a selection of your top 10 images from the workshop.

With an intimate group size of 6 participants, you will get to connect with people with the same passions and values as you. The only skill-level requirement is that you feel comfortable with the camera you will be using.

Workshop FAQs

What is included in the price?

All educational elements including theory sessions, critiques and 1-2-1 mentoring during the trip are included. I will also be taking you to the best street locations and restaurants/bars/cafes in the city, which have been researched in advance.

You will be responsible for all of your own expenses for the trip, including flights, travel, visas, accommodation, travel insurance and meals.

Will we stay at the same hotel?

I will recommend a hotel for us to stay in. However, as people’s individual budgets and tastes can vary so much when it comes to accommodation, you are free to stay elsewhere if you prefer. I would suggest that it is close to the recommended hotel.

How long are the days?

It will be an intensive few days, often starting early and finishing late at night. So best not to make any other plans during this time. We will meet at 9am on the first day (starting with theory in a classroom setting) and finish at 6pm on the last day.

What gear do you recommend for street photography?

When it comes to gear with street photography, less is generally more. So I always recommend one body and one prime lens. It’s also good to have a relatively wide lens. Personally, I always shoot with a 35mm or 28mm prime lens (full frame). The quality of the lens or camera isn’t important as long as you are comfortable using it.

What skill level is required for this workshop?

This workshop is for all skill levels. The only requirement for attending this workshop is that you are comfortable using your camera (I do not recommend buying a new camera, which you are not familiar with, for this trip).

How many people will be on the workshop?

All of my workshops are limited to 6 people. The smaller number allows us to blend in more with our environment on the streets and it also allows me to target the content more towards your ability, interests, challenges and goals, especially during the 1-2-1s.
