After running dozens of multi-day Street Photography workshops around Europe and the rest of the world, I figured it was overdue time to do one in my home city of London, UK.
Not only is London where I honed my street photography skills, it is also a playground for the craft, offering a huge range of interesting locations. From the iconic Oxford Street, to the weird and wonderful characters of Camden, to hidden gems dotted around the city. London is a patchwork of interesting and widely ranging scenes perfect for street photography.
Join me and a small group of passionate photographers in this intensive workshop, as we explore my favourite London spots for street, while growing your photography skills. There will be plenty of time for 1-2-1s with to focus on your specific interests and goals.
"Matt’s depth of knowledge and passion for street photography make him a ridiculously inspiring & talented educator. His morals & ethics also shine through in his street teachings."

My Approach To Teaching Street Photography
Street photography is such a playful and creative craft, and I want you to experience this first-hand. The information I share on my workshops is done in an engaging way with the emphasis on the practical. The small groups allow for lots of interaction and while we’re shooting, 1-2-1 time with me.
To help you digest the knowledge I share, I use a 3 part approach for all of my workshops.
- Theory: We begin in a classroom setting where we run through some key street photography theory with plenty of interesting visual examples by myself and the masters.
- Practice: Most of the workshop is spent on the streets taking photos. On day one I start by giving you mini assignments to train your eye to see specific elements, before building up to more complex images. You then have plenty of opportunity to apply these skills in London’s most interesting street photography spots.
- Critique: This is where it all comes together. Over the 3 days there are several mini-critique sessions to highlight what we’ve learned, with time to apply it to the remainder of the workshop.
"Getting a glimpse into Matt’s mind and how he visualises the world before creating the picture is fascinating."
- Carla Banc -

London Photography Workshop FAQs
What is included in the price?
The education, daily 1-2-1s, planned itinerary, pre-workshop Zoom planning call and Matt as your guide and mentor are included in the price. You will be responsible for all your own expenses (travel, accommodation, meals etc).
Where will we stay during the workshop?
Once you book onto the workshop, I will provide an address where the theory elements of the workshop will be taking place and where I recommend you book your accommodation close to or with easy access to. This location is close to both a main London train station and the underground, giving you plenty of options. Appreciating that people have different preferences and budgets when it comes to accommodation, I don’t recommend a specific hotel. Most book their accommodation via Booking .com or Airbnb.
What gear do you recommend for street photography?
When it comes to gear with street photography, less is generally more. So I always recommend one body and one prime lens. It’s also good to have a relatively wide lens. Personally, I always shoot with a 35mm or 28mm prime lens (full frame). The quality of the lens or camera isn’t important as long as you are comfortable using it.
How long are the days?
It will be an intensive 3 days, often starting early and finishing late. So it’s best not to make any other plans during this time. We will meet at 9am on the first day (starting with theory in a classroom setting) and finish at 5pm on the final day. Most of the days are 9-10 hours in length.
What skill level is required for these photography workshop?
If you’ve ever been interested in trying street photography or are a seasoned street photographer looking to up your game or reignite your passion, my workshops are suitable for all levels.
With only 6 attendees per workshop, you will receive a significant amount of 1-2-1 time with me. This allows me to give tailored guidance based on your specific goals.
The only skill requirement for attending is that you are comfortable using the camera you have.
How many people will be on the workshop?
All my workshops are limited to 6 attendees. The smaller number creates a nicer group dynamic over the 3 days, and allows us to blend in more with our environment. It also allows me to target the content more towards your ability and interests, especially during the 1-2-1s.
Do you only run street workshops in London?
While being based in London, I run photography workshops all around the UK, Europe and Worldwide. Check out my upcoming workshops page to see the full list of destinations I’ll be visiting. If you would like me to come to your city for a workshop, let’s talk.
