Street Photography Workshop

Cornwall Street Photography Workshop

This May I will be coming to Cornwall for a full-day Street Photography workshop. The morning theory session will be held in the iconic National Maritime Museum in Falmouth. We’ll then hit the streets to photograph the characters and unique charm of this seaside town while developing your street and photography skills with some mini assignments and 1-2-1 guidance.

Location: Falmouth, Cornwall

Date: Wednesday 22nd of May 2024

Time: 9:30 – 17:00

Price: £180 GBP

What to expect from this one-day workshop?

We begin with some theory and my top Street Photography tips in a classroom setting, before hitting the streets for most of the day. The shooting element of the workshop includes a number of mini-assignments, that gradually increase in complexity – a proven method for taking your street skills to the next level. The limit of 6 attendees also allows for a lot of 1-2-1 with me. The day wraps up with a critique back in the classroom which attendees often referred to as the greatest learning element of the workshop.

The only skill-level requirement for this workshop is that you feel comfortable with the camera you will be using.

  • ⇒ Introduction to the Theory of Street Photography
  • ⇒ Street Photography Compositions and Themes

FAQs for One-Day Workshops

What skill level is this workshop for?

My 1-Day workshops are great for all skill levels. With only 6 attendees per workshop, you will receive a significant amount of 1-2-1 time with me. The only skill-level requirement is that you feel comfortable with the camera you will be using.

How many people will be on the workshop?

All my workshops are limited to 6 attendees. The smaller number allows us to blend in more with our environment on the streets when we’ve got our cameras out. It also allows me to target the content more towards your ability, especially during the 1-2-1s.

What gear do you recommend for street photography?

When it comes to gear with street photography, less is generally more. So I always recommend one body and one prime lens. It’s also good to have a relatively wide lens. Personally, I always shoot with a 35mm or 28mm prime lens (full frame equivalent). The quality of the camera or lens isn’t that important for street, as long as you’re comfortable using it.

Film or Digital?

While film cameras can be great for street photography, if you have a digital camera, I recommend bringing that for my workshops.

Why? Two reasons; 1) it allows you to play and experiment more (you don’t have to worry about the limited number of frames you have left on your film), 2) it allows me to review your photos during the day and offer tailored advice.

What is included in the price?

Only the tuition is included in the price. You will be responsible for all your other expenses (travel, accommodation, meals etc).
