London 1-Day Workshops

London 3-Day Workshops

Hi, I’m Matt. I’m a full time photographer and educator based in cultural mixing pot that is London. I run street photography workshops across Europe and worldwide, but as they say, there is no place like home. And what a playground for street photography London is.
As my workshops are limited to 6 attendees, you will get lots of 1-2-1 time with me focused on your specific challenges and goals. Plus I’ll get to share some of my favourite London locations for street.
I run 3 types of London workshops in London (full details and upcoming dates below), which are suitable for all levels.
If you’ve ever been interested in trying street photography or are a seasoned street photographer looking to up your game or reignite your passion, I am here to help.
"Matt’s depth of knowledge and passion for street photography makes him a ridiculously inspiring & talented educator. His morals & ethics also shine through in his street teachings."- Kevin Kheffache -
My Approach To Teaching Street Photography
Street photography is such a playful and creative craft, and I want you to experience this first-hand. While I do share plenty of information on my workshops, it is done in an engaging way. The small groups allow for lots of interaction and while we’re shooting, 1-2-1 time with me.
To help you digest the knowledge I share, I use a 3 part approach for all of my workshops.
- Theory: We begin in a classroom setting where we run through some key street photography theory with plenty of interesting visual examples by myself and the masters.
- Practice: Most of the workshop is spent on the streets taking photos. I start by giving you mini assignments to train your eye to see specific elements, before building up to more complex images.
- Critique: This is where it all comes together. We wrap up with a mini-critique with photo examples to help illustrate the different ideas we’ve covered.
Throughout the workshop, I try to create a relaxed and fun atmosphere, so in addition to learning a lot, you also have a bloody good time.
"I haven't stopped raving about 'Street with Matt' since the workshop. What a Street Photography Wizard this man is!"- Becci Wiles -
Finding Interest in the Everyday
One of the amazing things about Street Photography as an artform is its ability to find interest in everyday seeming ordinary places. It’s about being playful and creating impactful images in locations where no one else is noticing anything. Street helps train your eye to see more of the world around you and the camera can be a great icebreaker for connecting with strangers (both I find make life a richer experience).
The streets are also a great playground for photographers to practice their craft. You can play with light, shadow, colour and pattern matching, reflections, motion blur, framing, decisive moments and so much more. Plus, street photography is easily accessible. You just need access to a public area with some people.

London Photography Workshop FAQs
What gear do you recommend for street photography?
When it comes to gear with street photography, less is generally more. So I always recommend one body and one prime lens. It’s also good to have a relatively wide lens. Personally, I always shoot with a 35mm or 28mm prime lens (full frame). The quality of the lens or camera isn’t important as long as you are comfortable using it.
Is the payment non-refundable?
Yes, if you did need to cancel your booking, the payment is non-refundable. However, I usually give the option to move your booking to a future workshop so that you don’t miss out.
Do you only run street workshops in London?
While being based in London, I run photography workshops all around the UK, Europe and Worldwide. Checkout my workshops page to see the full list of upcoming workshops. If you would like me to come to your city for a workshop, let’s talk.
What skill level is required for these photography workshop?
My workshops are for all skill levels. The only requirement for attending is that you are comfortable using the camera you have.
With only 6 attendees per workshop, you will receive a significant amount of 1-2-1 time with me. This allows me to give tailored guidance based on your challenges and goals.
How many people will be on the workshop?
My 1-day and 3-day London workshops are limited to 6 attendees. The smaller number allows us to blend in more with our environment on the streets when we’ve got our cameras out. It also allows me to target the content more towards your ability, especially during the 1-2-1s.
